First Dwarf Review

Good foundation poor execution

Want to become a Dwarf-Gundam pilot crash landed in a beautiful world, and breath fire as a cute dragon companion? You might have to wait a little longer. While First Dwarf does have a lush world to explore, and interesting mash up of action RPG, tower defense, and base building features it lacks the polish in all of them. With a solid foundation, and the team’s living road map announced I believe this game will be great in no time, however more improvement on build mode, the tower defense system, and key binds must be made. This is one of those rare times I wish steam had a middle of the road feature instead of just thumbs up and thumbs down. Buy on sale or wait until the game is further along!

Considerations:

  • ❌ Lack luster quest marking system

  • ❌ Unstable frame rates

  • ❌ Desperately needs new build mode

  • ❌ Clunky key binds

  • ✅ Unique characters to play

  • ✅ Strong foundational game play

  • ✅ Beautiful world map

Final Verdict:

All in all First Dwarf is a lukewarm 5 dragon breaths out of 10
